Last Updated: May 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the SplitSmart mobile application and any related services operated by Educate (“Service Provider”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).

By using the Application, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information Collection and Use

A. User-Provided Data (Local Storage Architecture)

SplitSmart is designed as an offline-first expense management application.

All expense records, group names, member details, payment logs, and split calculations created within the Application are stored locally on your device only.

We:

  • Do not require account registration
  • Do not maintain cloud databases for your financial records
  • Do not upload your expense history to our servers
  • Cannot access, view, modify, or share your locally stored data

Your financial information remains entirely under your control on your personal device.

B. Automatically Collected Information

To maintain app stability, improve performance, and support advertising services, the Application or integrated third-party SDKs may automatically collect limited technical information, including:

  • Device IP address
  • Device type and operating system version
  • App usage statistics
  • Crash logs and diagnostic reports
  • Session duration and interaction metrics

This information is collected automatically and does not directly identify you personally.

2. Third-Party Services and Advertising

The Application uses third-party services to support functionality and provide advertisements.

Google AdMob

SplitSmart uses Google AdMob for advertising.

Google AdMob may collect and process certain device identifiers, including:

  • Android Advertising ID
  • Device information
  • Ad interaction data
  • Approximate location information

This data may be used to:

  • Deliver relevant advertisements
  • Prevent fraudulent activity
  • Measure advertising performance

For more information, please review Google’s Privacy Policy:

3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Third-party advertising SDKs integrated into the Application may use:

  • Cookies
  • Mobile identifiers
  • Local storage
  • Similar tracking technologies

These technologies help:

  • Remember user preferences
  • Improve app functionality
  • Deliver and measure advertisements

Where required by applicable law, consent will be requested before non-essential tracking technologies are used.

4. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your country or region, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA, including:

  • The right to know what information is collected
  • The right to request deletion of certain data

5. Data Retention

Local Expense Data

All expense and group data created in SplitSmart is stored locally on your device and remains there until:

  • You manually delete it
  • You clear app storage
  • You uninstall the Application

Uninstalling the app may permanently remove all locally stored data.

Analytics and Advertising Data

Third-party providers may retain anonymized analytics and advertising data for a limited period as required for operational, legal, or security purposes.

6. International Data Transfers

Third-party service providers such as Google may process data on servers located outside your country of residence.

Where legally required, appropriate safeguards are implemented to protect transferred information in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Application is not intended for children under the age of 16.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Application, please contact us immediately.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect limited technical and diagnostic information processed by the Application.

Because your financial records are stored locally on your device, protecting access to your device is important. We recommend using device-level security features such as:

  • Screen locks
  • Passwords
  • Biometric authentication

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
